Delta Flight 4819 Emergency Response |
Every year, Toronto Pearson conducts an Emergency Exercise Event, where dedicated staff and community volunteers simulate a full-scale aircraft emergency or security scenario. These exercises rigorously test our protocols, procedures, communications, and planning for emergency and security-related incidents, ensuring we are always prepared in the event that an incident occurs.
On February 17, 2025, an incident occurred. Delta Airlines flight 4819 from Minneapolis to Toronto, operated by subsidiary Endeavor Air, was involved in a single aircraft accident upon landing at Toronto Pearson. Flight attendants, flight crews and airport emergency workers mounted a textbook response and quickly evacuated the passengers. Three of our stations responded with 10 aircraft fire and rescue vehicles, assisted by Mississauga Fire, Peel Paramedics, and Peel Police. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, and all injured passengers were discharged from the hospital.
At this time, any questions related to cause must be addressed to the Transportation Safety Board as there is an active investigation underway.
Toronto Pearson is deeply grateful to the flight attendants, crew, emergency first responders, and the operations team who acted swiftly and effectively when lives were on the line.
Together, we continue to demonstrate our strength, resilience and commitment to safe operations at Toronto Pearson. |

Despite some cancellations this past month due to weather in Toronto and elsewhere across the continent, this airport shepherded thousands of people through its doors.
Our team cleared 26cm of snow from more than 4 million square meters of runways, taxiways and apron - an incredible feat! We continue to monitor for upcoming weather and will continue to work diligently with our team and stakeholders to ensure smooth journeys for everyone.
We know the winter weather may still be upon us and our team and stakeholders will continue to double down to make journeys as smooth as possible. |
As part of our continuous improvement to make your travels better, construction has begun at Toronto Pearson’s Terminal 3 Arrivals level as of January 27. This project is aimed at maintaining long-term performance of bridges that connect the terminal to its parking garage. During construction, lane closures will be in effect and passengers may experience some delays. Travelers flying in and out of Terminal 3 are encouraged to plan their routes ahead of time and allow for some extra travel time during this period.

The next time you find yourself walking through Terminal 1 or 3, take a look up at the ceiling and you’ll notice a pair of “E.T.”-looking eyes staring right down. At Toronto Pearson we have over 2,000 3D sensors installed across the ceilings of our terminals. These sensors use specialized AI technology that captures, anonymizes, and monitors passenger behaviour throughout the terminals so we can better optimize the airport’s flow and operations and improve the passenger experience.
That is only a glimpse into the investments we’re making to create the airport of the future. See what else we’re up to in our next chapter with Pearson LIFT. |
At Toronto Pearson, we recognize the importance of uplifting Black voices and take steps to dismantle barriers to Black inclusion year-round. This Black History Month, we continue to honour our commitment to building spaces of inclusion, justice, equality, and joy throughout our airport. |
The first week of February marked White Cane Week, dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. Toronto Pearson was the first airport in Canada to introduce Aira, an innovative app that combines technology with human support. With Aira, passengers can connect with trained professionals via video for personalized assistance, making independent navigation easier than ever.
