Transformative Capital Plan |
|
|
On November 15, President and CEO Deborah Flint and Chairman of the Board Doug Allingham unveiled an exciting new future vision for Toronto Pearson, embarking our airport on an ambitious program of renewal.
Pearson, Evolving is a bold plan to catch up and leap forward. We are reimagining our operations and rebuilding with purpose to create the airport of the future and bring joy back to travel. We are now executing a 10-year strategy for the airport that’s focused on customer experience, operational performance, innovation, and employee experience. Foundational to our strategy is a new era of investment in airport facilities and infrastructure. Our lens is also on affordability, with environmental stewardship and a digital/tech forward approach a key priority. We expect to be back to our record passenger level of about 50 million annual passengers by 2025, if not sooner, and we are moving quickly to renovate and expand airport facilities as part of our Transformative Capital Program (TCP). Highlights of the TCP include: -
Restoring aging infrastructure and enhancing the passenger experience, with a focus on affordability.
- Protecting direct global air connectivity and Toronto Pearson’s status as a gateway for Canada.
-
Creating economic growth through business and investment opportunities that will benefit national and regional economies, creating thousands of jobs.
- Implementing a digital environment to make data-driven decisions for more predictable and efficient operations.
-
Building more direct roadways and transit connections for employees, passengers and cargo.
- Reducing environmental impact while advancing Canada’s climate goals and energy transition.
We are working with our airline and airport partners on scoping our capital projects
The future of Toronto Pearson is one that will create jobs, generate opportunities for local businesses, and build our brand as Canada’s biggest airport. We are already well on track – On-Time Performance is already up by 12% year-over-year, and year-to-date, we are currently ranked #2 in North America for Best Customer Service at large airports (ACI-NA). |

We are excited to share positive and important news about how our organization is evolving to drive the transformation of Toronto Pearson International Airport. Our focus is on enhancing our operations to support more passengers and improve passenger experience, all aligned with our strategic plan and vision: Putting the Joy Back into Travel By Making Pearson the Chosen Place to Fly and Work.
Our organization is taking a significant step forward for customers, employees, environment, communities, stakeholders and business partners. We are expanding the organization’s capabilities to deliver passenger growth beyond our previous record of 50 million passengers, and we are driving better performance and setting new standards. To accomplish this, we are shifting some functions to different business units to streamline service delivery. Some functions previously housed in Operations will report to our Commercial and Maintenance groups, putting more focus on core operations as we re-imagine our work and invest in our facilities. We are also creating new senior roles to help lead the organization perform and grow.
Finally, after 10 years of dedicated service, Chief Operating Officer Craig Bradbrook will retire in mid-January. He will continue to support us in an advisory role until early April. During the transition, the operations team will be led by Chief Commercial Officer Khalil Lamrabet and two of our most experienced directors, Dwayne MacInTosh and Janik Reigate. We look forward to continuing our work together as we all help put the joy back into travel. | |

Embracing differences with Ready, Set, Fly...with YYZ |
Airports are often busy, bustling places with long lines and delays. It can be an overwhelming experience for families with kids with autism and neurodivergent needs. Recognizing the importance of providing a supportive and stress-free journey for such families and as a nod to Autism Awareness month in Canada, Toronto Pearson Airport hosted a special event on October 15 - “Ready, Set, Fly…with YYZ”.
The event, in association with Autism Ontario and Air Transat including CATSA, CBSA, GTAdnata and MagnusCards®, saw 100 people, specifically families with children with autism and neurodivergent needs, taken through an immersive experience. Through simulated real-life scenarios, the families practiced all the necessary steps involved in air travel. Families gained valuable insights into airport procedures, from getting their boarding pass to going through the security processes, boarding an Air Transat flight, listening to in-flight security instructions and deboarding a plane, and the resources available to support them (e.g. our Sunflower Lanyard program, MagnusCards®, activity books).
This event helped our staff acquire a better understanding of the unique needs of kids with autism and gain valuable insights into how to provide appropriate services. To learn more about accessibility at Toronto Pearson, visit: torontopearson.com/accessibility. |
