We had written the first code about three months earlier, but it was on this day that a Harvard project truly became something that we thought had the legs to be a lasting business. And while we knew we were onto something, we couldn’t have predicted where we’d be today.  Thousands of users. Eight core products. Countless features and datasets. Two acquisitions. Offices in four countries. Almost 400 employees currently — and hundreds more who played a part in Quorum’s 10-year journey so far. One Quorum company, one Quorum solution.  How did we get here? And where do we go from here? Three key values are at the center of it all: Adaptation, Innovation, and Impact.

Adaptation

Any business needs to adapt throughout its growth. Pivot where you thought you were going to focus your time and energy, add something new to your roadmap, or stop something that isn’t working. How you come to those decisions about how to adapt is critical. One of the unique features of Quorum is that we built our business bootstrapped, meaning we never took outside investment money. Customer feedback has always driven our roadmap.  It started in 2014 with weekly flights from Cambridge, MA to Washington, DC to show Quorum to prospective customers and get their feedback. It continues in 2024 with beta access to new features, industry AMAs, a customer Slack community, and more.

Innovation

It feels only fitting that we’re celebrating this milestone as the tech industry is in the midst of another revolution with AI. While we’ve done a lot in 10 years, what’s possible has just exploded. In the last few months, we’ve rolled out new features like the ability to chat with AI about legislation to understand its impact and tools to write hundreds of versions of an advocacy email. We’ve also added new data sources like state regulatory boards and state floor transcripts. When we came into the market, it was innovative simply to use public affairs software, instead of spreadsheets or a sales CRM that wasn’t really adapted to the needs of legislative tracking or grassroots advocacy. Now, there’s a robust market driving innovators like Quorum to continue to both address existing challenges public affairs professionals face and anticipate new solutions that can advance their policy work.

Impact

My co-founder Jonathan and I got into this business because we wanted to make an impact on the legislative process. I had seen the challenges of passing important legislation, and we wanted to help. In 10 years of Quorum, our clients have used our tools to support major legislation. From securing critical funding in relief packages during the COVID-19 pandemic to increasing support for child nutrition programs to helping drive voter turnout in important elections, the work our clients do is having an impact. We’re thrilled to play a part in it.  But we’re also proud of the way we’ve helped policy professionals make an impact. From tracking notes in spreadsheets and emails, to a mobile app that helps you log emails on the go. From operating somewhat blind on the impact public affairs has on the organization’s bottom line, to mechanisms for reporting ROI. From executives not understanding what public affairs was doing, to advanced, shareable dashboards that show your activity. And these are just a few of the shifts the industry has made. But new challenges continue to arise when it comes to making an impact — political polarization, massive volumes of legislation, increased competition for attention, expansion of focus locally and internationally. So we’re not done. We’ve spent 10 years building Quorum to what it is today, but the innovation isn't slowing down. Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey so far — whether you are one of those first customers from 10 years ago or you’ve just joined us in the last week, whether you worked at Quorum for one year or five. It’s not too late to join the ride.  [post_title] => 10 Years of Quorum [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => closed [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => 10-years-of-quorum [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2024-04-25 15:09:28 [post_modified_gmt] => 2024-04-25 15:09:28 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://marketing-staging.quorum.us/?post_type=resources&p=12834 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => resources [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw ) [queried_object_id] => 12834 [request] => SELECT wp_posts.* FROM wp_posts WHERE 1=1 AND wp_posts.post_name = '10-years-of-quorum' AND wp_posts.post_type = 'resources' ORDER BY wp_posts.post_date DESC [posts] => Array ( [0] => WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 12834 [post_author] => 43 [post_date] => 2024-04-25 10:00:03 [post_date_gmt] => 2024-04-25 10:00:03 [post_content] => 10 years of innovation, and we’re just getting started. 10 years ago today, Quorum was officially incorporated as a business. 10 Years of Quorum

10 Years of Quorum

10 years of innovation, and we’re just getting started.

10 years ago today, Quorum was officially incorporated as a business.
